Zynga plays the online gambling card and launches its first real currency games

The Californian social gaming studio, Zynga, is launching today in partnership with Bwin its first real money games: ZyngaPlusPoker and ZyngaPlusCasino. After ZyngaPoker, its social game using virtual money, Zynga is therefore betting on online gambling to find new sources of income.

ZyngaPoker had experienced last year one of the strongest growth among Zynga products, to become the second social game behind the essential Farmville and represent 20% of the studio’s income.

Currently available in the UK, these two new games may soon be released in the US under state gambling laws. And Zynga may still have more cards to play with launches on Facebook and mobile, as well as diversifying into other casino games like roulette or blackjack.

After have stabilized their financial situation last year, the Californian studio had recently distinguished itself for having distanced himself from Facebook by making its games accessible without going through the social network. The announcement of the launch of ZyngaPlusPoker and ZyngaPlusCasino was well received by the markets with a 5% increase in the Zynga rating.
