The merchant Zalando decided to ally with Stuart, a start-up specializing in the “last mile” delivery niche to launch an on-demand parcel return service. Currently being tested in Paris, it offers residents of the capital the opportunity to return the items of their choice within a 30-minute time slot or by appointment within 7 days. This device has already been tested by Zalando in Cologne, Berlin, Vienna, Amsterdam and Rotterdam. The service was extended to the whole of the Netherlands at the end of September.
To return a package, the customer simply has to program their request online from their Zalando customer area, indicating their address, the size of the package, the date and the desired time slot. As soon as the request is sent, Stuart offers the courier closest to the pick-up location to pick up the package at the desired time. “A negative delivery experience will deter 43% of customers from returning to a merchant site and redirect 39% of them to an in-store purchase»Says Pingki Houang, Managing Director of Stuart France.
The on-demand return parcel service is Zalando’s way of setting itself apart from the competition from Amazon. Last June, the American marketplace launched “Prime Now” in Paris to allow customers of the Premium offer to benefit from delivery in one hour in the capital and in 21 towns located in the surrounding area. Faced with express delivery, the German e-merchant has chosen to opt for express return.
The real estate developer Funcia signed a partnership with the Nantes start-up Immodvisor, which is developing a platform for advice between individuals on real estate, housing and construction professionals. As part of this agreement, each real estate agency of the Foncia group will have a dedicated space on Immodvisor, with a presentation of its activity, photos, opinions collected and their responses, as well as a Facebook news feed. “This allows us to keep a link with the client, even once the transaction is completed, and to continue the relationship thanks to the interactions made possible by the Immodvisor platform.“, Explain Jeremy Giacomini, digital and customer relations director of Foncia.
To date, the real estate developer employs 8,000 people and has a network of 500 physical agencies. In 2015, the group achieved a turnover of 700 million euros.

Next November 11 takes place on Singles’ Day in China. The day, initially dedicated to single people, gradually turned into a day of promotional sales, under the leadership of Alibaba in particular. If in 2015, Chinese e-merchants had broken sales records (Alibaba alone had garnered more sales than for Thanksgiving and Black Friday combined), in 2016 the participation of Internet users should be lower, if we one believes study produced by AdMaster.
Barely more than 7 out of 10 respondents plan to participate in the next Singles’ Day, against an 84% stake last year, a drop of 13 points in the space of a year. Those under 25 also appear to be turning away from the event this year, with just 64% of respondents planning to shop online next Friday, down 20 points from last year.
Among the reasons given to justify this drop in interest, the delivery times of products deemed too long for 25% of respondents, but also the fact that promotions on platforms during the year make the principle of the operation less interesting for 24% of them.
** Methodology: study carried out in mid-October 2016 among 1,730 Chinese Internet users.
In his “World FinTech Report 2017 » produced in partnership with LinkedIn, Capgemini wanted to understand how decision-makers working within financial institutions perceive the new FinTech services.
Regarding blockchain and its applications in the financial world, traditional players remain cautious, if the results of the study are to be believed. The first micro-payment and money transfer solutions from one country to another should therefore see the light of day at the earliest within 3 years. Insurance solutions integrating the blockchain, or even bank loans, should not be available for 5 years.

“I think there is a good chance that we will eventually have a basic universal income, or something close to it, because of automation. I don’t know what else we could do“. This is what Elon Musk said this Friday, November 2, during an interview given to CNBC.
The head of Tesla refers to a concept in vogue in the world of American Tech, that of a Universal Basic Income to offset one of the negative effects of automation on employment: a drop in demand for some positions.
