The sky is getting darker and darker above Yahoo. Three months after announcing the hacking of 500 million accounts of its users at the end of 2014, the American firm revealed that it had been the victim of another cyberattack in 2013. According to Yahoo, it would have hit more than a billion accounts .
During this mass attack, names, phone numbers, dates of birth or even passwords and answers to secret questions are likely to have been stolen by cybercriminals. However, the company led by Marissa Mayer claims that the bank details of its users were not affected by this hack.
The news of this new cyberattack comes at the worst time for Yahoo, which reached an agreement in late July to be acquired by Verizon for 4.8 billion dollars. After the revelation of the first attack, Verizon wanted to know the real impact of this incident on the company, before confirming or not its takeover offer. This new cyberattack could thus be one too many for Verizon.
