While Apple is preparing for a series of announcements for the end of the summer and for the re-entry according to our information, the Chinese Xiaomi did not wait for Apple and has just launched two new products. First a tablet, called MiPad. Available in several colors (white, yellow, green, blue and pink), it will arrive on the market, in beta version, next June. No one knows for the moment whether the marketing will be local in China or more extensive, at a price of 199 euros, against 338 euros for the Apple tablet …

Another notable launch: a 4K television, the MiTV, at the unbeatable price of $ 649.

The ambitions of the Chnois, who more than one hired the former Android VP of Google Hugo Barra ago, are very clear: “We wanted the hardware to approach, or even exceed the Apple iPad” indicates the founder of Xiaomi, Lei Jun.

In China, the tablet market is currently dominated by Apple, Samsung and Lenovo. On the global smartphone market, Xiaomi is climbing very quickly to reach 6th place in smartphone sales in the first quarter (Canalys study). Its low-cost positioning, and its “commando” sales methods make it a serious competitor for high-tech giants. Lately, Xiaomi was valued at 10 billion dollars after a round of funding. It sold nearly 19 million smartphones in 2013, or 3 times more than in 2012.
