Create a site quickly, even if you do not have development knowledge: this is the promise of Wix. This Israeli company, which is developing a platform for creating websites for the general public, offers Internet users the option of selecting a theme for their website, then personalizing it with their content.
Founded in 2006, the company has completed several rounds of funding, until it went public on the Nasdaq in 2013. Today, Wix, whose service is available in more than ten languages, claims more than 80 million users worldwide. To get paid, the company markets its solution with a freemium offer: the basic functions are free, then you have to take out a monthly subscription to get more options.
With such a positioning, Wix must face competition from other players such as the American Weebly, which launched in December 2015 a version adapted to the French market. To make itself known in France, Wix then invested in a television advertising campaign and bet on marketing operations.
