Video games: Twitch buys GoodGame to monetize its audience

by bold-lichterman

twitchTwitch, the video platform dedicated to video game enthusiasts, bought by Amazon in August for $ 970 million, has just acquired GoodGame, a marketing agency specializing in esports and online games ( collaboration with teams of players, tournament management, contributions from announcers, etc.).

The entity will allow Twitch to monetize its audience and expand its offer to advertisers who wish to address a targeted audience (advertising, sponsorship, merchandising, etc.).

1.1 million “broadcasters”

“GoodGame was a natural fit for Twitch because of our shared experience in building monetization solutions for partners and helping sponsors get the most from their investments,” said Kevin Lin, COO of Twitch. “Our goal is to help support as many gamers and broadcasters as possible by channeling revenue into our community, and keeping it here,” adds Alexander Garfield, CEO of GoodGame.

Founded in 2011 by Justin Kan and Emmett Shear, Twitch boasts an audience of 60 million internet users each month and a community of 1.1 million broadcasters (Internet users who broadcast their video game session on the platform).
