The video game industry appears to be recovering in 2013, according to figures released by the Syndicate of Leisure Software Publishers, in particular thanks to new products that have recently landed. “With each new generation of consoles, the industry’s turnover has doubled. Gamers’ appetite for new consoles testifies to the dynamism of the video game market and the industry’s ability to renew itself ”explains David Neichel, President of SELL

In the end, the sector generated 2.7 billion euros in turnover in 2007, or 2% more than in 2012. However, hardware saw a slight decrease with a 3% drop in value on the year.

The eighth generation of home console – Playstation 4, Xbox One and Wii U – had the effect of accelerating sales from the start of their marketing. With 468,000 units over the first five weeks, they experienced growth of 28% in volume and 44% in value compared to the previous generation, to 198 million euros.

In total, France has 32,178,000 generation 7 and 8 home or portable consoles. “Video games have seen their number of players explode in 15 years, from 20% of the population in 1999 to 50% today. hui ** ”according to Emmanuel Martin, General Delegate of SELL
