Cityzeum Travel Group, a major player in tourist information mediation, has just announced the acquisition of travel guides Pocketvox and Navigaia. The transaction amount was not sent.

Tourisme Cityzeum offers itself the Pocketvox and Navigaia travel guidesPocketvox publishes a range of audioguides, guides for smartphones as well as a web platform. Its website lists nearly 600 hours of podcasts. Navigaia offers a portal dedicated to travel videos.

Thanks to these acquisitions, Cityzeum intends to strengthen its SoLoMo strategy, in particular by bringing a very social dimension to these two new services. The operation also allows it to accentuate its international development, since the two newly acquired startups offer content in German and English.

Cityzeum Travel Group is a Paris-based start-up which launched its eponymous site in 2007. It is hosted by Paris Développement. The company received early support from Oseo, Paris Entreprendre, and Agoranov.

The start-up publishes 3 travel sites:

  • Cityzeum, focused on travel guides and accommodation, which generates the bulk of traffic, with 1,500,000 VU each month.
  • BabelTrip, the first platform for questions & answers, real-life experiences and good deals
  • See you Monday, a tourist site focused on WE in France.

Cityzeum claims more than 3M connections between travelers and tour operators in 2011. The group today brings together a community of 200,000 members, and more than 400,000 traveler reviews. Its 2011 business volume is 15M €. The start-up expects nearly 20M travelers this year on all of its sites.
