Why this is important: Four years after its launch in France, Netflix is moving up a gear with the opening of a Paris office next year and the announcement of seven new programs (three new French series projects and the purchase of three films and of a French documentary), in order to satisfy the growing number of French subscribers, but also to face increased competition. To support these new productions, which are added to the seven French programs already announced in recent months, Netflix is reopening an office in Paris, on the model of its London office, which will employ a team of 20 people, with new hires. Why this is important: Since its creation in 2010, Funding Circle has claimed more than 50,000 companies financed for a total amount of 5 billion pounds through 80,000 investors, in the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany and the Netherlands. But its turnover remains modest, at 94.5 million pounds in 2017, although it has doubled compared to 2016. FinTech also recorded a loss of 35.3 million pounds last year. These results partly explain its mixed performance. Added to this is the uncertain economic context in the country, against a backdrop of Brexit.
