Netflix will open an office in Paris and double its production in France. The American platform has nearly 3.5 million subscribers in France.
Why this is important: Four years after its launch in France, Netflix is moving up a gear with the opening of a Paris office next year and the announcement of seven new programs (three new French series projects and the purchase of three films and of a French documentary), in order to satisfy the growing number of French subscribers, but also to face increased competition. To support these new productions, which are added to the seven French programs already announced in recent months, Netflix is reopening an office in Paris, on the model of its London office, which will employ a team of 20 people, with new hires. The platform had set up a small team in Paris when it arrived in 2014, but it quickly closed it down and moved to the Netherlands.
