The startup of the day: Yousign, an electronic signature to simplify business life

by bold-lichterman

Every day, FrenchWeb highlights a new startup, and selects one each week, to be the startup of the week in the Atelier BNP Paribas show on BFM Radio. Are you the founder of a startup less than 2 years old, which we have never talked about? Make yourself known!

Frenchweb invites you today to discover Yousign, a Caen-based startup that designs and develops and offers electronic dematerialization solutions to companies of all sizes and in all fields of activity.

It aims to make significant productivity gains for companies thanks to the time and money savings made on archiving and signing documents in particular.

To discuss it, Antoine Louiset, one of the two co-founders of the company.

FW: How did you get the idea for your company?

Antoine Louiset : We started from the observation that the electronic signature was not used although it had been 13 years since it had the same legal value as a handwritten signature. Being specialists in the field of security, we deepened our research and found that it was not democratized because of its complexity. We therefore thought about an architecture to simplify its use for the comfort of users.

FW: What need are you responding to?

Antoine Louiset : Sign all types of documents (contracts, quotes, order forms, etc.) directly online and archive them for 10 years. The goal is to save time, money, productivity and simplify processes. Our solutions are:

  • simple since no technical knowledge is required to sign a document;
  • mobile, usable from any device (smartphones, tablets, etc.);
  • secure, thanks to a unique architecture, expertise in this area and the use of strong authentication systems;
  • legal, respect the French and European regulatory framework.

FW: Very simply, how do you make money?

Antoine Louiset : Our services can be used by two means: via a Yousign web platform or via a web service API. In the case of the platform, we offer two packages: the STARTER package with 15 signatures and the INFINITY package with unlimited signatures. In the case of the web service API, it is a decreasing consumer billing according to the volume.

FW: Who are your competitors?

Antoine Louiset : Several players are positioning themselves in this market. It is a rapidly growing sector. Our solutions are full SaaS, mobile and very easy to use! We also stand out with the strong legal value of our products.

FW: What or which companies are you being compared to in error?

Antoine Louiset : Confusion can come with players who are mainly established in the United States but their product is not recognized in France.

FW: What was one of the first issues in your development and how did you deal with it?

Antoine Louiset : Our first commercial offer comes out on October 28, after more than 2 years of R&D. The development was full of twists and turns and it is with great perseverance that we have faced the many problems encountered.

FW: What is your main asset?in this market ?

Antoine Louiset : Ease of use is essential to democratize the use of a service such as electronic signature.

What is the best advice you have been given and by whom?

Antoine Louiset : The best advice given is to believe in what you are doing, have confidence and go for it. This advice was given to us by the various people from the Normandie Incubation incubator who have been with us since our beginnings.

FW: Which personality do you admire the most?

Antoine Louiset : Timothy Ferriss, writer and entrepreneur who makes you think!
