Frenchweb invites you today to discover Xoopar, a startup founded by two French people who are interested in the smartphone environment. The startup thus decided to create accessories in correlation with a tool that has become essential.

FW: How did you get the idea for your company?


Olivier Vergnet : We had the idea in Hong Kong with my partner Pierre Yu, realizing that there was not really a recognized brand in our field of activity. From the emergency charger to the nomadic speaker, Xoopar seeks to innovate with an interest in designer accessories often from the Art Toy culture that bring a funny and cute touch to the product.

FW: What need are you responding to?

To all those who no longer have batteries on their mobile after 3 p.m. and those who no longer share music from their mobile because they do not have the correct speakers.

FW: Who are your competitors?

Xoopar specializes in two areas: charging and sound. Few French companies are working on projects related to additional charging for smartphones. Lithium, the raw material used for the design of backup batteries, remains difficult to work with in such unusual forms. Regarding our range of loudspeakers, the market remains very competitive. Recognized brands and brands with high potential all have a flagship model, leaving little room for startups. I’m thinking of Monster Beats or Jawbone’s Jambox.

In this growing market, Xoopar has therefore chosen to differentiate itself through products with successful design and avant-garde characteristics with the use of NFC on the Punchbox speaker, for example.

FW: What or which companies are you being compared to in error?

We are often compared to the Lexon company for the design side of our products, it is a good reference. But we do not rely on the aura of recognized designers because we only use our own designer studio. Xoopar imagines and designs its products internally.

FW: What was one of the first issues in your development, and how did you deal with it?

To be accepted as a creator of added value and beautiful products when we are a Franco-Chinese company. The most popular products at Xoopar come exclusively from a designer in our Shenzhen office, Vive la Chinese touch !

FW: What is your main asset in this market?

Xoopar’s main asset is undoubtedly its cosmopolitan character. The Shenzen office provides technical and technological power and the French office helps to steer towards European trends in terms of design, colors, etc. The permanent dialogue between the teams allows the creation of products that are both useful and fun.

A second advantage lies in the small size of the team which allows great flexibility and rapid decision-making.


FW: What is the best advice you have been given and by whom?

“You will be more disappointed with the things you haven’t done than with those you have accomplished.”

FW: Which personality do you admire the most?

Travis Kalanick, CEO and co-founder of Uber. Thanks to him no need to take Parisian taxis.
