French Heliceo, specializing in the development of innovative systems for professional civilian drones, has just finalized a fundraising campaign totaling 1.5 million euros. To carry out this operation, the company benefited from the participation of the funds Sequoia, Feed and the Pays de la Loire region.

The market

Founded in 2014 by Jean-François Baudet, Hélicéo is a Nantes start-up which designs, manufactures and distributes professional and technical imaging systems, a technology mainly used by the geomatics professions. Its skills encompass aeronautics, structural analysis, IT, on-board electronics, topography, design and working with composite materials. In less than two years, the young company has established itself at the regional level by multiplying partnerships with several manufacturers in the sector, both for carbon cutting, electronics and composites as well as for machining, aluminum and design.

After a little over a year of existence, Hélicéo now intends to strengthen its R&D pole and expand internationally following this fundraising. This international acceleration will take shape during this year with establishments in Germany and the United Kingdom on a European scale before a launch in the United States scheduled for next year. With 16 engineers and technicians currently in its ranks, Hélicéo intends to secure the services of five new employees by the end of the year. In 2017, the workforce of the Nantes start-up will be increased to 30 people.
