When publishing his group’s results, Martin Bouygues reviewed the figures for his telecom subsidiary. The operator shows a decline in its turnover, which nevertheless reached 4.4 billion euros in 2014. Last year, the company recorded a net loss of 41 million euros.
However, Bouygues Telecom has recruited 415,000 new subscribers to its offer triple play at less than 20 euros, and 220,000 on its mobile offer. In the end, the company had 13,549,000 customers at the end of December 2014, an increase of 393,000 subscribers compared to 2013.
In order to improve its profitability, the group wants to change its organization. A very costly voluntary departure plan for the company was finalized at the end of January 2015, with 1,400 employees affected. From a marketing standpoint, simplifying the offers should help improve customer management and its cost. An imperative if Bouygues Telecom wishes to keep its ambitions on the quality of the customer experience.
Finally on the question of a possible takeover by SFR-Numericable, Martin Bouygues replies: “it is we who are the natural buyer of SFR, Orange and Numéricable”. The future will tell; surprises abound in the telecom market.
