Each month, the French spend 23 more minutes calling from their mobile and sending 20 more text messages than a year ago.

2.51 hours. This is the average time spent each month by the French using their mobile phone, according to figures published yesterday by Arcep.

According to Observatory from the telecoms authority, this would represent an increase of 23 minutes per customer per month, compared to the previous year.

In the first quarter of 2013, the overall volume of mobile telephone communications would thus have reached 33.3 billion minutes, or 5.4 billion more minutes than in the first quarter of 2012. “Traffic from mobile phones has continued to grow. during 2012 and its growth has been around 20% for two quarters ”, specifies the Observatory.

On the SMS side, the study once again underlines the strong enthusiasm for this practice. In total, 49.4 billion messages were sent during the 1st quarter of 2013. Each customer would therefore send, on average, 255 SMS each month, ie 20 SMS more than in the same period the previous year.
