The challenges of the digital wallet with David Marcus, CEO of PayPal

Invited by LeWeb’12, the CEO of Paypal offered an inspiring intervention on the plenary stage on Wednesday with a speech on corporate culture.

Founder in 2000 of the company Echovox which became Zong thereafter, he sold his company, a specialist in mobile payment via the operator’s invoice for € 168 million in July 2011. He then became PayPal’s “Vice President of Mobile” before replacing Scott Thompson as CEO in last April. A strong symbol, if one needed one that the subsidiary of eBay Inc. put everything on the new mobile services.

Today, PayPal has 30,000 employees, 120M users around the world and forecasts a turnover of more than $ 10M on its mobile activities for 2012.

The company has just launched a new mobile application, Parking AppPayPal, which allows users to pay for their parking simply by performing a “check in” and a “check out” on their smartphone. A novelty not yet available in France. PayPal should also launch a new digital wallet offer during 2013.
