by bold-lichterman

Sandrine Morard, former lawyer in corporate / mergers and acquisitions law and Axel Labrousse, engineer and experienced developer, created in December 2015 SoftLaw.

The two founders want to automate certain daunting tasks in the legal field. With this software, they thus allow professionals of the right to extract in a single click the information sought in a document.

FrenchWeb: What problem does SoftLaw solve?

sandrine-morardSandrine Morard, co-founder of SoftLaw: A lawyer or a lawyer spends at least 30% of his time (and sometimes more) reviewing documents to find certain specific information on the basis of which he will be able to advise his client or his company. Very often this exercise is similar to that of looking for a needle in a haystack.

SoftLaw wants to divide by 2 to 10 the time spent by lawyers and jurists extracting and processing relevant information from contracts and legal documents to enable them to be more productive and profitable, while reducing the cost of their services for their customers or their companies.

What’s your value proposition?

We offer an artificial intelligence tool that simplifies the daily work of lawyers by allowing them to automatically extract the key information they are looking for from their legal documents and use it more quickly.

Who are the users of your solutions?

We mainly target our software for lawyers, company lawyers and notaries who have to regularly review and manage large volumes of documents in a very short time.

We also want to quickly adapt our tool to deal with many administrative business needs.

What is your development plan?

After several months of development, we plan to release the first version of our first software around April 2017. For the moment, we offer on-demand services: we retrieve customer documents and extract key information for them. need.

We plan to expand internationally as soon as possible, starting naturally by offering our solutions to French-speaking countries whose legal systems have been built on the French model.

What are your challenges?

We are currently meeting with a few potential investors and partners whom we choose based on their expertise and interest in law and artificial intelligence.

We are always on the lookout for good profiles in the legal, commercial and tech fields (NLP and machine learning), having a strong team spirit and passionate about their field.

Who are your competitors?

In France, the problem of the few software document review currently used by lawyers is that they operate on the basis of keywords and therefore do not allow documents to be filtered in a sufficiently fine way and even less so to extract precisely the information sought.

Several competitors exist in Anglo-Saxon countries but their solutions cannot be used on documents written in French.
