On the eve of the official announcement of the release of the new iPhone, the GfK research firm, wished to recall the major challenges represented by the smartphone market.

This year, more than half of the mobile phones sold in France should be smartphones, or more than 12 million units sold. According to Laurent Donzel, director of mobile telephony customers at GfK, this dynamic could be explained in particular “thanks to the considerable development of the range of entry and mid-range smartphones”.

Finally, the firm plans to triple the volume of smartphone sales by 2015 to reach 20M units.
