SimilarWeb Raises $ 25 Million To Take On Alexa In Audience Measurement
SimilarWeb, an Israeli company specializing in audience measurement, has just raised $ 25 million (around € 22.6 million) from the Naspers Group and David Alliance, both of which had already invested in the company in the past, reports the Globes. This new turn of the door to 65 million dollars the amounts raised by the company since its creation.
Founded in 2009, SimilarWeb develops audience measurement solutions for websites (traffic, engagement, center of interest, traffic sources, etc.) and mobile applications (retention, keywords on Google Play, etc.). The company also offers rankings and analyzes on the most visited sites or the most used applications by country.
To get paid, the company sells monthly offers allowing access to more or less features. On its website, the company, which has more than 200 employees, claims to analyze 80 million websites and 3 million mobile applications in some sixty countries.
With this new investment, the company intends to open new offices and finance new acquisitions. “We are setting up a team for mergers and acquisitions in the company and we will carry out at least one acquisition per year”, details Or Offer, the CEO and co-founder, quoted by the Globes.
SimilarWeb must indeed face competition from several players, including Alexa, an Amazon subsidiary, positioned in the same market segment.
