The operator, owned by Carlos Slim, also intends to enter into a partnership with the application, which will allow it to reach its 270 million mobile subscribers.

The Latin American operator America Movil, owned by Carlos Slim (known to be one of the richest men in the world), has just invested more than 40 million euros in the musical recognition service Shazam.

Thanks to this fundraising, Shazam’s total funding exceeds 80 million euros, and gains a new prestigious shareholder (in addition to Kleiner Perkins, Institutional Venture Partners and DN Capital).

America Movil’s intervention is not limited to financing Shazam : an industrial alliance should see the light of day, which would consist of preloading the application on all phones marketed by America Movil. A promising partnership for Shazam, the operator with 270 million mobile subscribers.
