Shadow IT: Skyhigh Networks raises $ 40 million from Greylock and Sequoia

by bold-lichterman

The start-up Skyhigh Networks raises 40 million dollars from its historical investors, the Americans Greylock Partners and Sequoia Capital, joined by Salesforce. Skyhigh Networks publishes a SaaS cloud security solution that allows a company to determine which cloud services employees are using. Objective: to avoid shadow IT, the use of unauthorized software.

In March 2012, Sequoia Capital and Greylock Partners had already invested $ 20 million in the start-up. At the start of 2014, the company claimed more than 200 customers, including Cisco, BMC, or even DirecTV. However, it faces competition from many players, including Ciphercloud.

Founded in 2011 by Rajiv Gupta (current CEO), Sekhar Sarukkai and Kaushik Narayan, Skyhigh Networks is based in Cupertino, California. It has raised $ 66.5 million since its inception, but is not yet profitable.
