Within the framework of Mobile World Congress which opened its doors this morning in Barcelona, Orange announced the launch of a new smartphone by summer 2012. Sold under its own brand, the mobile will integrate a chip Intel. The French operator would thus be the first to market in Europe a telephone equipped with a chip from the American giant.
Codenamed “Orange Santa Clara”, this telephone will initially be available exclusively to Orange customers in the United Kingdom and France. According to the operator, this new mobile should allow a large number of customers to have access to a high-performance smartphone at a lower cost.
The smartphone will offer several services including: access to Orange TV, Dailymotion, Deezer, Orange Cinédays, or even Orange et moi.
Santa Clara will run on Android and is expected to have a 4.03-inch screen, 16 GB of memory and an 8-megapixel camera capable of taking 10 shots per second. No sale price or precise date of marketing are communicated for the moment.
