SanDisk buys Fusion-io for $ 1.1 billion

Specializing in the design and manufacture of flash memory cards, SanDisk has just acquired Fusion-io for $ 1.1 billion. The company, which publishes storage solutions for servers based on flash memory, has seen Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple) arrive as data scientist in 2011. The transaction was settled in cash, at $ 11.25 per share, or a premium of 21% over the closing price of Fusion-io.

However, the company struggled to compete. Last summer, the two co-founders, David Flynn and Rick White, left the company. Despite everything, with this acquisition, SanDisk gets its hands on two important customers: Facebook and Apple.
