In an interview with Bloomberg, Samsung’s vice president of mobile division Lee Young Hee today confirmed that the group is working on a smartwatch project, and has been for a long time.
She said: “We are currently preparing products for the future, and the watch is definitely one of them”
However, besides this confirmation, Lee Young Hee declined to disclose further information regarding the functionality, price and release date of this smart watch.
The announcement comes as rumors about an Apple Watch keep swelling. In fact, last February, the New York Times believed that the apple brand had put on track the construction of a prototype of the Apple Watch: a wristwatch with curved glass that would conform to the shape of the wrist.
Now, the question is to know who will be the first of the two giants to enter this new market. A Techcrunch article, highlights here the history of Samsung in this area. The South Korean had, in fact, already marketed phone watches in 2009 called S9110.
