With more than 2 billion dollars invested in the capital of French Tech companies according to the indicator FrenchWeb Invest, the year 2016 breaks all records in this area. Who are the sectors which have benefited the most from this dynamism in terms of investment?
- Infrastructures and the cloud: more than 320 million euros were invested in this sector in 2016. Significantly, three companies concentrated all the investments: OVH, which carried out a capital increase of 250 million euros, and LinkbyNet and its 50 million euros. The two operations were announced during the summer, in the middle of August. The third operation, announced in January, concerns Cedexis, which raised $ 22 million, or around € 21 million.
- Entertainment, leisure: more than 290 million euros have been invested in this sector. With 45 transactions recorded, the average ticket in this sector exceeds 6 million euros over the year. We will notably note the fundraising of Devialet and Sigfox (150 million euros) largely explains this result. Among the other companies that have been talked about this year, we note Rythm, which raised 10 million euros, or Sevenhugs and its 13 million euros raised.
- Marketing, sales and communication: more than 175 million euros were invested in companies in this field in 2016. For example, in September Alkemics announced that it had raised 20 million euros, and in October Splio raised 10 million euros. In total, more than 70 operations have been recorded in this area.
- Transportation: with 37 fundraising and 165 million euros invested in transport, the latter is also a flagship sector in 2016. In April, Drivy announced a fundraising of 31 million euros, and in October Navya Technologies raised 30 million euros.
