PC sales expected to decline 1.3% in 2013, following a 3.7% decline in 2012

According to IDC figures (International Data Corp) released yesterday, global PC shipments are expected to decline in 2013 for the second year in a row.


After a decline of 3.7% last year, the PC delivery volume is expected to decline again this year by 1.3% for a total of 345.8M units sold.

The main drop comes from “mature” markets, with a decline in sales of 6M units to reach 138.7M, while “emerging” markets do not compensate for this decline despite an increase in sales of nearly 1.2M. ‘units to reach 207.1M.

While desktops are seeing widespread sales declines, laptops are doing well in these markets with an additional 4.5M units sold.
