“Businesses see the potential in data, but aren’t sure what to do with it», Explains to Frenchweb Jean-Marc Lazard. To respond to this problem, in 2011 he founded OpenDataSoft, a Parisian start-up which publishes a platform to retrieve and visualize a company’s data in order to obtain a first overview of the activity. Then, “we also help to publish them in the form of API in order to reach an ecosystem of innovators who will allow the development of new services“.
Among the start-up’s clients are major accounts, such as the Ministries of the Interior and National Education, Axa Global Direct, Total, RATP, EDF, and even the newspaper The team and the magazine The Express. The start-up offers for example to follow the public contracts concluded. “Since the beginning of 2015, we have succeeded in signing contracts outside France, in the United States, in Australia», Specifies Mr. Lazard.
On the economic model side, OpenDataSoft markets its services in the form of a subscription, the prices of which vary according to the volumes of data. And while the sector is very competitive, the company has just raised 1.5 million euros from Aurinvest to strengthen itself. More details with Jean-Marc Lazard, CEO of OpenDataSoft.
