[Off The Record] NovaNano’s miniature satellites win “The Voice” for entrepreneurs
Miniature satellites at the top of the podium! The Lyon start-up specializing in the launch and manufacture of NovaNano nanosatellites has just won first place in the “World Entrepreneurship Crowd’s Den” as part of the World Entrepreneurship Forum. This competition, which was held in Lyon on October 21, saw five startups from around the world compete against each other. They had 10 minutes to pitch in front of investors and a jury made up of six finders of promising companies.
Original fact: the 500 members of the public present on site as well as Internet users who followed the broadcast live on the web were able to participate in this election. The EM Lyon incubator and the Wiseed crowdfunding platform were partners of the event.
It was finally the young Spas Balinov, who managed to stand out from the other candidates. He founded NovaNano in 2009 with Stanislaw Ostoja-Starzewski, a former student of INSA Lyon like him.
The orbiting mass of NovaNano’s satellites is between 1 and 50 kilograms. The goal is to achieve affordable and universal access to the Internet.
