New episode of the saga free mobile. The Alternative Mobile association, which brings together around ten virtual operators, would have asked Arcep the opening of a sanction procedure against the new operator, who entered the market on January 10.

MVNOs demand sanctions against Free Mobile from ArcepAccording to AFP which reports this information, the association deplores the rates that Free Mobile practices in its MVNO offers. The latter would in fact be higher than the retail prices enjoyed by the general public. A policy that would therefore go against the promises kept by Free Mobile, which, before its launch, offered competitive rates for MVNOs.

In view of this strategy, which is unfavorable to it, the association therefore asks Arcep “To open a sanction procedure as described by the Post and Electronic Communications Code, against the company Free Mobile”. Contacted by AFP, the telecoms authority would not have liked to comment on this information.

At the end of 2011, virtual operators held 11.30% of the mobile telephony market, against only 7.4% in 2010.

Alternative Mobile brings together ten virtual operators: Afone, Auchan Télécom, Carrefour Interactive, Coriolis Télécom, Lebara, NRJ Mobile, Omea Télécom, Ortel Mobile, Prixtel and Transatel.
