Mobile data traffic boom

According to the latest figures released by Ericsson, relayed by GigaOM, mobile data traffic, without taking wifi networks into account, would have doubled between the fourth quarter of 2011 and the fourth quarter of 2012.

In detail, between the 3rd and 4th quarter of last year, the total data volumes through cellular connections increased by 28%.

This enthusiasm could be explained in particular by the development of 4G in certain countries.

Another explanation: the increase in the number of mobile subscriptions in emerging countries and especially in China, which recorded 30 million additional mobile subscriptions in 2012.
