Mobile analysis: App Annie raises $ 17 million and buys Distimo

The American company specializing in mobile analysis App Annie has just raised $ 17 million from its historic shareholders Capital Partners, Greycroft Partners and Sequoia Capital, bringing the total amounts raised since the creation of the company to $ 39 million.

It takes advantage of this new investment to acquire Distimo, one of the Dutch competitors which provides solutions for auditing applications for mobile and mobile website. The company’s teams will join that of App Annie to form a new structure of 240 employees.

“This acquisition represents an important step in the growth of App Annie, and it allows us to accelerate our roadmap” said Bertrand Schmitt, CEO of App Annie. The company says it audits nearly 600,000 apps to track their downloads, revenue, rankings and reviews.

“We share the same vision to inform everyone in the app industry with the best data and analytics platform,” adds Vincent Hoogsteder, from Distimo. Following this acquisition, the headquarters of Distimo in the Netherlands will become the European center of App Annie. The company also has offices in the United States, San Francisco, London and Tokyo.
