RNTS Media, the German publisher of Fyber, specializing in mobile advertising, has just bought the American start-up Heyzap, another player in the sector. The operation is based on a transaction of $ 20 million in cash to which is added an “earn-out” of $ 25 million if certain objectives are achieved by 2017.
Founded in 2009, Heyzap develops advertising solutions to monetize mobile applications. The company, which notably completed a funding round of $ 4.3 million in 2013, was financially supported by Union Square Ventures, Ashton Kutcher and the Y Combinator.
With this new acquisition, Fyber, which claims to reach more than 411 million users each month, hopes to cross the 500 million mark and become one of the main independent players. It also enables it to expand the number of applications integrated into its platform.
“The acquisition of Heyzap complements our strategy at RNTS to increase Fyber’s position in the market by playing an active role in consolidating the mobile advertising industry. We will continue with this strategy in the coming years, ”says Andreas Bodczek, CEO of RNTS Media. This is not the first time the Berlin-based company has made an acquisition to strengthen Fyber. In 2015, the group bought Falk Realtime, a company specializing in mobile display advertising.
