Microsoft was eyeing Nokia phones

According to information from the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft would have conducted discussions for several weeks with a view to buying the Finnish manufacturer of phones … In vain.

Indeed, according to the economic daily, the negotiations would have aborted for a question of price and should not be relaunched. AFP recalls that Nokia’s stock market valuation reached nearly 10 billion euros.

The two entities have, however, come together largely in recent months, particularly in the context of the marketing of Nokia Lumia smartphones, equipped with the Windows Phone operating system developed by Microsoft.

However, according to the latest studies conducted by the firm IDC, only 3.2% of smartphones sold in the first quarter of 2013 were running Windows Phone.
