BRIEF – For the first time, Microsoft will be able to market its Xbox in China from September thanks to an agreement with BesTV New Media Co, a Chinese television company. The two groups have therefore created a joint venture by investing $ 237 million.

This partnership was necessary. After banning consoles in 2000, local authorities indeed announced last week that foreign manufacturers of video game consoles – Microsoft, Sony, Nitendo – could now market their products in the country on the condition that they set up “foreign-invested enterprises” in the Shanghai free trade zone.
