Bruno Franceschi, the chairman of the board of the Sud Ouest media group, said yesterday at a press conference that he hoped that within 5 years, half of the group’s turnover would no longer come from the paper newspaper, but from internet and other activities. Each week, nearly 5M pages of the Sud Ouest site are read. The group does not lack either diversify its offer by launching different thematic sites on wine (translated into English and Mandarin) or tourism. Finally, the Chairman of the Management Board announced the upcoming launch of a paid iPad application. The challenge launched by Bruno Franceschi remains significant, however, since the digital branch is still very marginal (1%) in view of the turnover achieved by the group, estimated at € 400M.
