[Médiamétrie] The mobile internet audience in France in February 2012
After internet audience in France, Médiamétrie has just published the latest figures relating to mobile internet audience from February. Over the month studied, nearly 9 out of 10 mobile users (89.4%) visited at least one site, whether or not optimized for mobile, while more than 66.2% consulted at least one connected mobile application from their smartphone, a constantly growing share.
Main finding from this wave: video and cinema sites are on the rise. In fact, in February 2012, 10.8M mobile users visited video and cinema sites, i.e. more than 1 in 2 mobile users (53.9%). According to Médiamétrie, these sites were particularly sought after by men (60%) and young mobile users: 1/3 of visitors to the sub-category are between 15 and 24 years old.
In addition, as on the fixed internet, the harsh weather conditions in February attracted mobile users to weather sites or applications: the Weather sub-category thus increased by 16% compared to January, with 5, 2M mobile users who have searched for news from the sky on these sites or applications.
In terms of rankings, among the most visited sites, we find in the top 5: Google, Facebook, Youtube, Twitter and Apple. Orange, in fifth position last month, is therefore relayed to sixth place, followed by SFR.
In terms of applications, few changes compared to last month. Google is also in 1st position. Next come YouTube, iTunes, then Game Center and Facebook.
