Mailcloud has just raised $ 2.5 million (approximately € 1.95 million) from Octopus Investments, several partners from Bessemer Venture, Seedcamp London as well as Kima Ventures, the Xavier Niel and Jérémie Berrebi. The start-up already had several business angels well-known to its capital including Barry Smith, co-founder of Skyscanner, Julien Codorniou (Facebook Europe) or Frédéric Cour, partner at Advent Ventures and Daniel Marhely, founder of Deezer.
Founded in November 2013, Mailcloud is a service that allows “users to log into their existing email account, organize their email history, files and content in sorted folders.” The solution also allows a company’s teams to communicate in real time on all types of devices. The service is not yet fully open, with the iOS and Android versions announced for November.
“I started Mailcloud because I was really frustrated after receiving 145,000 emails in 2011. I spent so much time organizing my own organization (…). This latest funding will help us advance the development of the service, ”explains Malcolm Bell, founder and CEO of Mailcloud.
Based in London, the start-up was launched by a team of engineers from IBM, Vodafone, Cable & Wireless and Hewlett Packard. It is incubated at Microsoft Bizspark Plus.
