[Made in Lyon] The success of Geolid, the SIdO, the Free Object Factory …
The Cité internationale de Lyon hosted on April 6 and 7 the second edition of SIdO, the Showroom dedicated to the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem. With nearly 5,300 visitors, 200 exhibitors, half of them from abroad, and 50 start-ups present, the event (accessible free of charge for trade visitors) is clearly a success.
Its co-founder, Paola Jesson, is particularly proud this year of the presence of start-ups who have been kindly invited: “NOTe received more than 100 application files. We are happy to be able to offer these young shoots, within a specific space, the visibility they so need. We also feel very close to them, because we operate in an identical mode, even if the size of our event may suggest otherwise.”
Another novelty of this second edition: the organization of a hackathon which brought together more than 60 participants around the theme of the emergence of new services for road carriers. The two founders of the show, who both have spent the majority of their careers in events, aim to increase the international profile of visitors in the future (this year, 10% of these came from abroad).
Among the lines of reflection in progress, they plan to rely in particular on the strong links that the city of Lyon maintains with Boston (Mass Challenge, Big Booster, etc.). “This collaboration seems almost natural to us insofar as the city of Lyon and Greater Lyon have been very valuable partners since the beginning of our adventure. It is largely thanks to them that we were able to put together very quickly the first edition of the SIdO, ”says Paola.
One thing is certain, an event of this type is very positive in terms of image for the city and its region, which have invested significantly for several years in the field of innovation (via clusters, French Tech, CCIs, etc. ). The event also attracts other Lyon players, such as TUBA, which this year launched, on the occasion of SIdo, a competition for start-ups and SMEs in the field of well-being and housing.
The dates of the next SIdO: April 5 & 6, 2017
