The latest reports available on financing volumes in fintech and insurtech are relentless for the Peninsula even if it does not have to be ashamed of European countries which, for some of them, are also badly off. In 2016, finance and insurtech startups raised $ 28 billion ($ 7 billion in 2012) and nearly $ 13 billion during the first two quarters of 2017. Europe’s weight remains marginal (9 % of investments in 2016). That of Italy almost non-existent (50 million dollars in 2017).
