The effervescence in the Breton digital world is confirmed and will even increase in May, June and July.

The West Web Festival returns for a fifth edition on July 19 and 20 in Carhaix in Brittany. The festival which combines “Web, Business & Music” during the first French festival, the Vieilles Charrues (280,000 festival-goers), has just unveiled its first names. This year, many digital RockStars will open for Depeche Mode, Jain, IAM, Marquis de Sade, Liam Gallagher … We can mention in particular Sébastien Missoffe, boss of Google France, Fabienne Arata, boss of Linkedin France, Eric Léandri, boss of Qwant or Edouard Chabrol who runs Amazon Pay for Europe.

Note that the festival is expanding by offering a new space in order to be ever closer to the speakers (“A glass with…”, “1to1 meeting”, Master Class…) and to initiate the first contacts.

In Nantes, the Web2day will also be back for its 10th edition from June 13th to 15th. Organized by the canteen, many speakers are expected during these 3 days dedicated to new technologies and innovation.

Between these two events, the excellent Startup On the Beach organized by the FrenchTech Rennaise team will take place on July 6. They invite you to Saint-Malo beach for an atypical meeting event between investors and startups with an exceptional sea view! The event offers pitches from startups in a relaxed and summery atmosphere. Many investors from Paris and the Grand Ouest meet local startups. A word of advice, try to come the day before, many informal meetings are born at this time.

In the same idea but much less shifted, let’s come back to the last one StartWest which took place on April 11. What struck me the most was the interview with the two jury presidents, with excellent answers from Julien Hervouët, founder of Nantes iAdvize, and the director of Coriolis Composites Clémentine Gallet. Let us also remember the winner of the “Priming prize” won by Franck Botta for WIZAMA (Châteaugiron). Wizama is positioned at the crossroads of board games and video games, combining the world of the tangible with that of the digital. A favorite was also awarded to Sandrine Bender and Alizée Gottardo for MEYKO (Nantes). Meyko designs and markets innovative solutions for patient health. She is developing her first product, a connected companion to support children with asthma in their daily treatment intake.

For his part, Breizh America returned to Brest on April 13 for its competition awards evening. This unique competition has become a staple of the Breton tech & innovation scene. Four young Breton companies have won their ticket for an intensive week in the USA: WI6LABS (Rennes), DAZZL (Rennes), PLEDG (Saint-Pabu) and the promisingSpotlight: “The rush to the west” for our startups to recruit in Paris!

New event, not in Brittany, but in Paris! “The rush to the west” aims to offer more than 500 jobs in the digital ecosystem of the West. With the highlight, Thursday May 31, at EP7 in the 13th arrondissement, where 100 Parisian talents will face our best Breton CEOs.

The first companies present are: Advalo, Akeneo, Apizee, CAILabs, Cottos Medical, Digital & Co, Energiency, EP,Apple-converted-space “> Nabl, Ndmac Systems, Streetco …

This event is organized by the Loire-Bretagne metropolitan center, which brings together the metropolises of Angers, Brest, Nantes, Rennes and the agglomeration of Saint-Nazaire, as well as the 4 French Techs of these territories. “That the rush to the West does not turn into a digital learning expedition of elected officials in Paris” as heard recently. For my part, I think that the initial objective will be well in the minds of the organizers. The dynamics are excellent so that our startups are made up of more and more experienced people.
