IoT: mCube raises $ 37 million for its sensors

by bold-lichterman

Mobile sensor maker mCube has just raised $ 37 million from historic investors Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, MediaTek, iD Ventures America, DAG Ventures and Keytone Ventures, SK Telecom Ventures and Korea Investment Partners. The new funds will be used to accelerate growth and expand the product line.

Founded in 2009, the company manufactures sensors for collecting data. These can be used as components on a series of connectable products: phone, clothing, watch… It hopes to gain a major place in a market that Gartner estimates at 50 billion connected objects by 2020.

For this, mCube has filed 103 patents, for 26 issued, to protect its sensors, among the smallest on the market. The start-up claims to have already sold 60 million accelerometers in the Chinese smartphone and tablet market.
