The London Olympics open their doors in less than 48 hours. Considered the first games held in the age of social media, a multitude of specialized sites, dedicated pages and applications have been set up to closely follow the event. Frenchweb offers you 4 tips to make sure you don’t miss a thing!
1. Official Games applications
“Join In” is an ultra-comprehensive mobile guide aimed in particular at those who will have the chance to be on site during the competitions. From the torch relay to the Games, including the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as all the cultural events, Join In will provide you with all the information you need to make sure you don’t miss a thing. The application is free and available on iPhone, iPad and Android.
The second application, London Results, more classic, gives the latest useful information, programs and results almost in real time, for all the events of the 36 sports of the Olympic Games. It is available for free on iPhone, iPad and Android.
2. “Olympic Athletes’ Hub”: follow athletes on social media
The social portal of the International Olympic Committee will bring together Twitter and Facebook messages from current and former athletes, allowing Internet users to follow their activities in real time. 2,000 athletes have already registered. Fans will also be able to ask questions live to athletes residing in the Olympic Village via the “Inside the Olympic Village” tab.
3. Facebook and Twitter: official narrators of the Games
The two social networks will be, as usual, great sources of information for Internet and mobile users. Launched in June, the ‘ Facebook Olympic hub ”is designed as a one-stop-shop for Olympic Games fans on social media. It includes links to the pages of athletes and their teams and regularly publishes information. As for Twitter, a page @ London2012 was created to bring together the best of gaming tweets. Alternatively, follow the official hashtag # London2012.

Several sites allow you to watch the events live on the internet, such as FranceTV, jolondon2012 or even NBC, which will cover the event online in its entirety, both on social networks and on the dedicated site ” nbcolympics Which will broadcast the events live.
