Vivendi launches a Havas buyout transaction
It was in the works for more than a year, it is now almost official. The media group Vivendi has launched an operation to buy back from the Bolloré group its shares in the advertising agency Havas. The Bolloré group, which is also a 20% shareholder of the Vivendi group, holds 60% of Havas’ capital.
As part of this transaction, the advertising agency headed by Yannick Bolloré is valued at 4 billion euros. Vivendi would therefore finance this repurchase with its cash, in the amount of 3 billion euros. A public takeover bid (OPA) will follow for the agency’s minority shareholders. The transaction, which must be finalized in the month of June, will have to be validated by the competition authority.
