The following infographic, produced by the Milo team using data from a report published by eMarketer, highlights the extent to which tablet users represent a golden target for e-merchants. Indeed, in the United States, tablet users would spend nearly 20% more per purchase than those who shop online from a PC.
The infographic also recalls that the pace of adoption of tablets in the United States should grow much faster than that of smartphones. Thus, in 2011, nearly 34M Americans had a tablet, a figure which should reach 55M in 2012 and nearly 90M in 2014.
Among the other key figures:
- 58% of tablets are used at home, a good place to shop.
- 52% of tablet users prefer to shop online on their tablet while 40% of them prefer to use their computer.
- Tablet users spend an average of $ 123 when shopping online, compared to $ 80 for smartphone purchases and $ 102 for PC purchases.
