The society Statista, a German statistics portal, recently published an infographic on mobile commerce in the United States. This one, listed on the site Mashable, reveals that the United States currently has nearly 160M smartphone users, and around 90M tablet users.
The infographic indicates that the percentage of user visits to merchant sites increased by 3% in one year on smartphones and tablets, but on the other hand suffered a drop of 6% on computers. In March 2012, more than 40M people visited the “Amazon” site via a smartphone or tablet, while 27.2M mobile users visited eBay, over the same period.
Finally, when companies are asked what their goals are with tablets, 87% wish to create sales on their websites and thus generate income, 65% wish to improve customer satisfaction and develop brand loyalty, 61% wish to provide a source of information on the product and the price, and 51% seek to improve customer acquisition.
