“60% of French people are in favor of mobile payment. This is one of the main information from a recent study conducted by Paypal on mobile payment in France. Carried out last April, this study is based on the responses of a sample of 1000 people, representative of the French population.

The main figures of this survey have been highlighted in the following infographic. We learn in particular that:

  • 7 out of 10 French people say they have already heard of mobile payment.
  • 32% of users are ready to pay a sum of 5 euros with their mobile.
  • 72% of smartphone users are in favor of mobile payment.
  • 11% of respondents believe that mobile payment is the future.

The infographic also indicates that sales on smartphones and tablets grew by 195% in the first half of 2012, not counting the downloading of applications.

Finally, in terms of its own activity, Paypal specifies that it has 5M active users in France and 28,000 partner merchants. Globally, mobile transactions made through Paypal reached $ 4 billion in 2011 and could climb to $ 10 billion by the end of the year.
