Hola, the peer-to-peer video distribution network for online video content publishers, has announced a fundraising of $ 17 million. This series C round was finalized with the Iris Capital fund. Iris Capital, which forged a strategic partnership with Orange and Publicis Groupe in 2012, is therefore joining the historical investors.
Facing him, Hola tackles offers from broadcast heavyweights such as Akamai, Amazon and Level3. Hola claims 53 million users worldwide.
Hola wants to continue to develop its offers in terms of online video content distribution. With these solutions, the Israeli start-up wants to seduce publishers of video content by allowing them to “reduce the costs of streaming video files online by 90%, while improving the reliability and speed of the streams ”.
To support the launch of Hola CDN, which pools the servers to broadcast videos, Hola plans to recruit more than 120 people over the next twelve months.
“Unlike traditional CDNs, Hola CDN streams video to users, anywhere in the world, from multiple servers in parallel, at high levels of utilization while operating servers in smaller areas. costs. The broadcasting prices are strongly reduced, without loss of speed of flow or reliability. Hola CDN will be marketed from the 4th quarter of 2015, ”the company said.
