Google sells Boston Robotics to SoftBank

A spin off of MIT created by Marc Raibert, and acquired by Google in 2013, Boston Robotics has become known for its particularly impressive robot dogs, whose videos have met with immense success on social networks.

The Japanese SoftBank, which had acquired the French Aldebaran, therefore wishes to enrich its portfolio of companies specializing in robotics. Its President, Masayoshi Son comments “there are too many problems which cannot be solved by the mere capacities of man”.

Google seems to be moving away from robotics topics, Jeff Kuffner, who was in charge of robotics developments at Alphabet left the company a few months ago to join Toyota.
