While it has just bought Dropcam for $ 555 million – specializing in security cameras – Nest Labs, bought by Google for 3.2 billion dollars last January, opens its platform to developers. Objective: to impose its operating system for the connected home by allowing users to connect all of their objects from it. From a thermostat, Google turns Nest into a true hub for the connected home.

It will thus be possible to obtain an alert when a Whirlpool washing machine has finished its program. Other brands and companies, such as Mercedes, are also expected to participate in the program.

This announcement comes after Apple’s Keynote earlier this month. The apple firm then announced the arrival of HomeKit, a platform for controlling the house (control of light, temperature or all home security systems …) from the iPhone or iPad.
