The German incubator Rocket Internet, one of the largest in Germany, announces a partnership with Ooredoo, the quatari telephone operator, which last September signed a sponsorship agreement with the Paris Saint-Germain club. Objective of this association: to develop e-commerce and digital services in Asia by acquiring a stake in the holding company Asia Internet Holding, which will be owned equally between the two entities. Together, they will focus their strategy primarily on mobile, especially in Indonesia.

“A fundamental change is taking place in our markets with more and more people buying goods and services online through their mobile phones. […] We are happy to have partnered with Rocket and look forward to leveraging their knowledge ”explains Nasser Marafih, the president of Ooredoo. “Our partnership will accelerate the development of Asia Internet Holding in the region and help our businesses succeed,” adds Oliver Samwer, co-founder of Rocket internet.

Founded in 1999, Rocket Internet is one of the largest German incubators. Based in Berlin, he has launched more than a hundred companies today present in some fifty countries, with offices in 25 countries. Among these are Zalando, Paymill and Carmudi.
