[FW500] Who are the most dynamic French tech companies in 2019?
With 2.8 billion euros of investments in the first half of 2019, French Tech is the second most attractive ecosystem in Europe, behind the United Kingdom and its 5.3 billion euros of investments, but ahead of the Germany (2.5 billion euros), according to the venture capital barometer of the consulting firm EY. This beautiful current form of French Tech was highlighted by the government in September with the launch of the Next40, a sort of “CAC 40” for French start-ups, which is mainly based on fundraising carried out within the ecosystem. For his part, FrenchWeb has been offering for three years another reading grid to highlight the French companies with the strongest growth in an even wider and varied ranking: the FW500.
The highlight of a year that will have been once again rich in experiences for the French ecosystem, the fourth edition of the FW500 brings together companies from all backgrounds that have a total turnover of 20.4 billion euros. More than 41% of the companies in the ranking have a turnover of more than 10 million euros. Proof of the vitality of these companies, in which more than 210,000 employees work, they plan to recruit 30,000 additional people in the coming months.
OVHcloud ahead of Leboncoin and Webedia
However, as noted by Laurent Foata, head of the Growth team at Ardian, one of the world leaders in private equity with 600 employees and nearly 100 billion in assets under management, the issue is not to engage in a race for the most beautiful fundraising, but to develop growth that will ensure the viability and sustainability of a company. “It is essential to highlight hidden companies that are profitable and have international ambitions“, He recalled during the evening organized at the end of October in the premises of Ardian Growth, Place Vendôme, in Paris, to unveil the FW500 ranking.
This year, the FW500 crowned OVHcloud, which has struggled for twenty years now to gain a foothold in the global cloud market, currently outrageously dominated by Amazon Web Services (AWS). In addition to the cloud, e-commerce and digital media are also in the spotlight in this fourth edition with Leboncoin and Webedia completing the podium behind OVHcloud. Since last year, the FW500 has also been working to reward entrepreneurial adventures. To find out the winners, just watch the report made during the FW500 evening …
